Spain's Basketball Team And Their "Show Of Respect" For The Chinese

Spain's basketball team apparently has never heard of the internet because when they posed for a Spain-only promotional photo by pulling their eyelids back in the infamous anti-asian racist gesture, none of them thought the rest of the world might become offended.

Even after the controversy, they still don't get it. They HONESTLY honestly don't understand why people would find the gesture to be offensive, which only goes to show how entrenched racism is in Spain.

Unfortunately, China's media has kept a tight lid on this controversy so the majority of the Chinese people in that country are completely unaware of Spain's disdainful attitude for all people asian. As of now, China is still playing the gracious host to these racist and rude ingrates. In addition, Chinese people living in China are woefully unaware of racism against asians because naturally, they would not experience discrimination in their own country. This reminds me of the whole Yao Min & Shaq incident when Shaq made the "ching chong" noises at Yao Min and Yao Min had no idea he was being insulted.

I'm EXTRA offended that Li Ning company has continued to endorse Spain's basketball team. You can bet that I'll never buy a Li Ning product as long as they continue to shunt self-respect in favor of money.

I am not perfectly fluent in Mandarin. Nor can I type or write in mandarin. Nor do I know anyone in China. If there is anyone on this blog who is fluent in Chinese, I highly encourage that person to write on this topic (in chinese of course) and post it in some popular Chinese website. Hopefully, if the people in China realize they've just been laughed at, they'll pressure Li Ning's company to withdraw sponsorship.

ps
Racism in Spain isn't anything new. They've repeatedly abused black athletes who have had the misfortune of competing in Spain. Honestly, I feel bad for any non-Spaniard who has to be in Spain. I wouldn't go to that country even if I was paid to do so.

pps
I won't be terribly kind to the Spanish members of the NBA when they come back to the USA.
